Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in 70 countries around the world. Médecins Sans Frontières provides medical assistance to populations in crisis, regardless of race, religion, belief, or political affiliation. In Papua New Guinea, Médecins Sans Frontières France is providing support to the Department of Health to improve access to care for tuberculosis patients in NCD Province. Joining MSF, is integrating a network of 30,000 employees, professionnal, trained and devoted to the same purpose.

To assist the medical activity, the logistic department of MSF deploys consequent mean builded on 30 years of international experiences. In MSF, we believe that our capacity to respond to an emergency reside in the skills and knowledge of each employee. Therefore, we provide all training that are needed for them to grow- up and build a high level of knowledge and skills.

Main Purpose

For NCD project we are looking for a maintenance agent profile, who is motivated to work in stimulating conditions and interested by learning other domain such as the supply. This mixed position will combine the maintenance of the premises, the conduction of work in our clinic according to MSF standard in terms of public health and the responsibility of our store as a storekeeper. This position could also include the mechanic of the fleet, the rehabilitation of health center in NCD, and/or the supervision of contractor.


Maintenance Agent:

  • Carry out all minor works (construction, repairs, car repairs, electrical skills, etc.) requested by the line manager, as well as any task identified by the employee and approved by the line manager.
  • Follow-up of contractor progress, reporting to the logistic Manager.
  • Perform regular maintenance of MSF installations / equipment / infrastructures (base, house, store, warehouse, health centre, hospital, etc.), particularly in line with a preventive maintenance plan (procedures to follow, schedule, etc.).
  • In the event of faults / deterioration, diagnose the problem and propose possible solutions to the line manager and/or technical adviser.
  • Perform any necessary tests / checks to confirm the proper operation of the installation or equipment after repair.
  • Ensure effective management, protection and care of work tools (including site installations under the employee’s supervision) and keep the workshop tidy.
  • Ensure that there are adequate stocks of consumables and materials for minor repairs and manage those stocks; placing orders in time.
  • Keep all documents related to installations / equipment / infrastructures in order and update them regularly.
  • Immediately inform the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.
  • Assist logistics department for any related work needed.


  • Supervising materials and goods orders and dispatch in order to ensure its rational use.
  • Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying and reporting potential discrepancies against cargo manifest or others. Stores materials in accordance with the system in force in order to ensure continuous availability.
  • Updating and/or creating stock cards for all stock items immediately after reception of goods. Checking the received cold boxes and controlling the cold chain-monitoring card
  • Assisting the line manager with preparation of the stock reports


Education: Literacy – essential

Experience: Previous experience as mechanic Or electrician Or in construction is essential
Previous experience as storekeeper is not needed as we will provide all training for that part.

Languages: English (essential), Pidgin (desirable)

Working Conditions
This position is based in Port Moresby. Please note MSF does not cover relocation fees from other
provinces. Working hours are 8:00-17:00, Monday to Friday.
