POSITION TITLE: MEDICAL DATA MANAGER – Daily Worker

CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in more than 70 countries around the world. MSF is dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, belief or political affiliation. In PNG, MSF has been working since 2005 in places such as Lae, Tari and Bougainville. MSF is now extending its activities in order to support the Department of Health to improve access to care for tuberculosis patients in Gulf Province and NCD.

JOB PROFILE

  • Ensure proper entry of various TB data into different data bases. Data originates from various sources (tally sheets, registers, etc.).
  • Learn to use the various tools available for data entry, ensure adequate use of the software available.
  • Ensure accuracy of the medical data entered, according to MSF protocols and to the requirements of the software. Carry out regular data back-ups to avoid loss of data.
  • Ensure that all data is entered according to the identified need of the project.
  • Compile monthly, quarterly data reports as advised by all departmental managers.
  • Assist project medical referent in the monthly/quarterly analysis of the data.
  • Assist in and suggest to create new data collection tools if the documents in place do not allow the collection of the needed information
  • Organize, supervise and plan data collection and the appropriate use of the available tools (registers, tally sheets, etc.) with the purpose of receiving reliable data within the MSF project.
  • Provide technical support and identify training needs associated with data collection and management in the various NDoH TB facilities (BMUs) in NCD as requested.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Essential proven computer literacy, secondary education or qualifications in data management and data entry
  • Additional degree in administration and/or Information and Technology (IT) – desirable
  • Experience in writing reports and presenting statistics
  • Knowledge of medical statistics
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Good knowledge of local languages.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Ethical behavior and focus on beneficiaries
