POSITION TITLE: NURSES IN KEREMA FOR IPD
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in about 70 countries around the world. MSF is dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, belief or political affiliation. In PNG, MSF has been working since 2007 in places such as Lae, Tari and Bougainville.
MSF is now extending its activities in order to support the Department of Health to improve access to care for tuberculosis patients in Gulf Province. MSF is very experienced in TB care: throughout the world, MSF is working on 87 TB projects in 45 countries and has admitted more than 30,000 patients for TB Treatment in 2013.
Responsible for providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of tuberculosis patients according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions in IPD TB ward.
Responsible for the triage and segregation of patients for early detection of case.
Ensure proper patient education and counselling before starting treatment and during follow up visits.
Responsible for the respect of proper infection control measures.
Candidates must be flexible with working hours and willing to work according to a roster.
A relocation package is available for successful applicants who live outside the Gulf Province.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential nursing diploma or specialized health services and valid medical registration.
Desirable previous one year or more working experience in nursing activities.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Good knowledge of the languages in PNG (Tok Pisin).
Desirable previous experience with international organisation is an asset (volunteer or professional).
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Calm, flexibility, open-mindedness.
Ability to work in a team and in remote setting area.
