Barrick (Niugini) Limited (“BNL”) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. BNL is an independently managed company and is jointly owned through an equal partnership between Barrick Gold Corporation and Zijin Mining Group-which own 95% participating interest in the Porgera Joint Venture. The remaining 5% is owned by Mineral Resource Enga (MRE) Limited – a consortium consisting of the Enga Provincial Government and the Porgera landowners.

The Porgera Joint Venture now has vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position:

SUPERVISOR – PERMIT TO WORK (NS339, NS340, NS341, NS342)

Reporting to the Operations Productions Foreman, the incumbents will be responsible for ensuring everyone engaged in Operations, Maintenance constructions commissioning and decommission or alteration activities carried out in the processing plant do meet all Permits to Work (Safe work Permit System) requirement.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the processing plant
  • Sound Supervision skills
  • Ability to demonstrate Visible Felt Leadership
  • Ability to Demonstrate application of continuous improvement ideas
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Oral and written English at an Upper Secondary School standard.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
  • Maintain high level of health and safety awareness and comply with PJV Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health rules and procedures

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and implement existing safe work procedures
  • Review and amend Isolation Registration Sheet and Equipment Isolations Procedure as required to suit current practice
  • Conduct field training and assessment of employees in the application of Isolation Procedures
  • Develop, review and amend permit to work procedures, company standards, permit design, permit audits, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct field training and assessment of employees in the application of Isolation Procedures
  • Liaise with area supervisors and foremen prior to isolating and issuing of a Permit to Work and any associated permits
  • Co-ordinate equipment isolation, JHAs and permit issuing for plant shutdowns
  • Identifying the risks in their work area and using the correct controls.
