The National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA), established under the National Information and Communications Technology Act 2009, is seeking expressions of interest for a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer. As a corporate body responsible for regulating the ICT industry in Papua New Guinea, NICTA's objective is to ensure the industry contributes to the long-term economic and social development of the country.

Individuals employed with or affiliated to current licensees need not apply.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Executive is responsible for the execution of NICTA's policies and the implementation of its decisions. The role involves the day-to-day supervision and management of NICTA's affairs and its staff. The CEO may also delegate powers and functions to NICTA staff.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate must have at least ten years of management experience. Be a person of integrity, independence of mind, and good reputation, with tertiary qualifications in business administration, ICT, business management or related fields, and possessing a sound knowledge of the ICT industry. Additionally, the candidate must not have had any direct or indirect financial interest in an existing or ICT licence or licensee within the last 12 months, nor be a member of the National Parliament. The successful candidate will also be ineligible if they have a criminal record or were adjudged insolvent or bankrupt within the last 36 months. Other ineligibility criteria include being an adjudged insolvent or bankrupt within the last 36 months, having a criminal record, or any other interest that could conflict with the proper performance of their duties. The appointment is for a term of three to five years and the individual is eligible for re-appointment.
