The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its’ humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 38 years. ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the invoices and writing up payment vouchers for processing payments to suppliers. A Finance Officer is responsible for all financial aspects of a business or organization. They manage the budget, prepare financial reports, and ensure that all financial transactions are conducted legally and ethically.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Entering invoices into the accounts payable system
- Writing Payment Requests & Vouchers for Processing payments to suppliers
- Filing and maintaining supplier records
- Checking and verifying invoices
- Preparing cheques for payment
- Performing other ad hoc tasks as required by the supervisor / Team Leader
- Following up on suppliers for payment
- Reconciliation Expenses
- Assisting in Customer assistance regarding payment
- Assist in GST return payments.
Qualification & Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree /Diploma in Finance, accounting, or a related is required
- Proven experience as a Finance Officer or in a similar Finance role, preferably in an educational institution or a related industry.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, practices, procedures, and regulations
- Advance proficiency in MS Excel and financial software applicants
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide financial support to non-financial stakeholders
Key competencies:
- Outspoken and be able to relate well with people
- Team player and be able to contribute ideas and participate with others
- Excellent Oral and written communication skills
Languages
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Fluency in Tok Pisin was preferred and Hiri Motu was accepted as not essential.
