Job Title: Finance Reconciliation Specialist

Location: Port Moresby, National Capital District.

Employment Status: Short Term Contract for 6 Months.

About the role:

We are seeking a Finance Reconciliation Specilaist who can join us on a short-term contract for 6 months only. The Finance Reconciliation Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely reconciliation of financial accounts and records. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the company’s financial reporting through identifying and resolving discrepancies, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and supporting both internal and external audits.

Key duties & Main Responsibilites:

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, bank accounts, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and other financial data.
  • Investigate discrepancies and variances by liaising with relevant internal departments and external vendors or financial institutions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete reconciliation documentation for audit readiness.
  • Support the month-end and year-end financial close processes.
  • Respond to internal and external audit queries and provide appropriate documentation and justifications.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to reconciliation processes and contribute to automation initiatives.
  • Ensure all reconciliations comply with company policies, internal controls, and relevant financial regulations.

Requirement and Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or 5+ years equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial reconciliation, accounting, or audit roles.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and reconciliation best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Functional Skills required:

  • Reconciliation Expertise - Thorough knowledge of bank, account, and intercompany reconciliations; variance analysis.
  • Accounting Principles - Strong foundation in accounting standards and financial reporting.
  • Analytical Thinking - Ability to interpret data, identify anomalies, and resolve issues.
  • Attention to Detail - Consistently accurate with data verification and documentation.
  • Communication - Effective in both internal collaboration and external correspondence.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Understanding of audit standards and financial controls.
  • Organizational Skills - Strong time management, task prioritization, and record-keeping capabilities.
  • Decision-Making - Ability to assess urgency and resolve issues quickly and confidently.
