The Baptist Union of Papua New Guinea (BUPNG) have immediate vacancies for the following positions. We are seeking experienced, ambitious and professional individuals to join our organisation based in Mt Hagen Western Highlands Province.

Gender Equality Diversity & Social Inclusion (GEDSI) OFFICER

Purpose of the role:

The Gender Equality Diversity & Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Officer is responsible to lead and implement initiatives that promote Gender Equality Diversity & Social Inclusion within the workplace and also the community that we serve. Advocate for equal opportunities, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusive workforce and community that it serves. It is critical to ensuring that CPP GEDSI Activities is successful and achieves its intended outcomes

Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the GEDSI team to develop and implement GEDSI initiatives as outlined in the Church Partnership Program GEDSI Strategy and Annual Work Plans for BUPNG.
  • Ensure the meaningful integration of GEDSI into organizational processes including monitoring and evaluation, research, recruitment, and communications, while overseeing the execution of targeted activities.
  • Design and execute GEDSI awareness programs aimed at educating key stakeholders on achieving GEDSI outcomes and promoting the advantages of a diverse workforce within BUPNG.
  • Coordinate events and activities that highlight critical GEDSI themes, including International Women’s Day and the International Day of People with Disabilities.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and partnership practices to create inclusive pathways for workers and communities affected by disability, in collaboration with relevant partners.

Requirements for the role:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Social Studies, Community Development, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of gender equality, disability inclusion, social inclusion, human rights, and international development principles, with the ability to translate theory into effective practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders across various cultural contexts.
  • Proven skills in liaison and coordination, with the capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Proficient in written communication, including report writing and monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Experience in public speaking, presenting, and facilitating training sessions to effectively convey key messages to diverse audiences.
