Job summary

The role of a Group HR Officer is multifaceted, covering recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance with laws, payroll administration, policy development, organizational support, and fostering employee engagement. These duties collectively contribute to creating a productive workplace where employees feel valued and supported.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the overall HR business function across the Parnell Group, ensuring timely, quality support is always provided when required by management and all staff.
  • Oversee / administer payroll processing, ensuring employees salaries are processed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure the timely processing of statutory superannuation contributions and salary and wages tax
  • Attend to and resolve all payroll related queries and concerns
  • Drive awareness on the HR function and its policies and devise FAQs that address issues and concerns raised by staff
  • Create/develop relevant HR policies related to payroll processing, recruitment, health and safety, disciplinary procedures and attendance & punctuality.
  • Oversee the entire recruitment process across the business, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with PNG laws and regulations
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for all new hires, including staff orientation and training.
  • Manage employee relations including handling disputes among employees, disciplinary issues and performance management.
  • In collaboration with management, align HR strategies with business goals and provide advice on workforce planning and talent management.

Key requirements

  • Diploma in HR, Business or equivalent
  • 3 – 5 years experience in a similar role with a strong background in payroll processing
  • Working knowledge of statutory laws (labour and employment, taxation, superannuation, worker’s compensation, and other related laws)
  • Must have adequate proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheets
