The Junior Mechanic assists in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment. This role supports senior mechanics in performing inspections, diagnosing issues, and conducting routine maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of vehicles and machinery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing mechanical problems in vehicles and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
Help with vehicle and equipment inspections to identify issues or potential problems.
Assist in the repair and replacement of vehicle components and parts.
Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and the workshop area.
Learn to operate and maintain various tools and machinery used in repairs.
Document work performed, including repairs, parts used, and labor hours.
Follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Collaborate with the team to complete tasks efficiently.
Assist in ordering and organizing parts and supplies.
Job Requirements
Grade 10 and 12 or equivalent.
Basic understanding of automotive or mechanical systems is a plus.
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop mechanical skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work under the guidance of senior mechanics.
Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform manual labor.
Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
Strong attention to detail and a focus on safety.
Mechanical aptitude and a passion for automotive or machinery maintenance.
Valid driver's license may be required.
