Position Vacant: Mechanical Technician
Function: Supply Chain
Location: Port Moresby
We have an immediate requirement for a Mechanical Technician to join our Planned Maintenance Team in Port Moresby, reporting to the Planned Maintenance Team Leader.
Main duties include:
- Execute Planned Maintenance (PM) tasks in area of responsibility and working on dayshifts: work preparation, execution, evaluation, work administration.
- Conduct routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair beverage production equipment, as well as implementing preventative maintenance plans.
- Execute frequent walk around and running and stopped inspections to assess machine condition and report by means of tagging. Escalate issues to next higher level when needed.
- Support production with technical knowledge in case of change overs, Autonomous Maintenance (AM) tasks, adjustments. Participate in AM and PM teams for improvement (e.g., 5 why, kaizen).
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage using a CMMS (Maximo).
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment whilst working with other Brewery staff, including brewers, packaging personnel, and engineers, to ensure smooth operations.
- Engage with production teams to implement improvement activities (RCFA, KAIZEN, APM), including CILT, carry out machine changeovers and provide training to operators. Actively participate in failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Involve in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and loss reduction activities.
Qualification and Experience:
- Completed Grade 10/12, holding a trade certificate from a technical college, TAFE, or a tertiary institution.
- A general interest in machine functioning: electrical, mechanical and automation.
- Experience in a production environment is preferable.
- For technicians assigned for the workshop, specific skills on workshop equipment are required, e.g. lathe machine, welding equipment.
