ABOUT BALIMO COLLEGE EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS
The Balimo College was established by SDP in 2019 as a pathway to brighter futures in Western Province through education. The campus is an integrated, multi-disciplinary hub that improves access to studies in education and health at all levels, through:
- Balimo College - offering tertiary qualifications at the School of Teaching (Diploma & Degree studies in primary teaching) and the School of Nursing (Bachelor of General Nursing)
- Balimo FODE - secondary school certification and GPA upgrades through Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE)
- Western Province E-learning & teacher in-service Project - professional development and resourcing programs in schools around the area.
- The Hon. Roy Biyama Balimo Academy (RBBA) - offering a high standard of education from K1 to Grade 12, with quality resourcing across all grades and disciplines, including a library, ICT and science labs and boarding facilities for students from remote villages across Western.
HON. ROY BIYAMA BALIMO ACADEMY (RBBA):
The school commenced in 2024 and is growing rapidly, aiming to cater for 1000 students in Grades K–12 by 2028. The Academy operates in an environment conducive to quality teaching and learning that is inclusive and responsive to additional needs and removing educational barriers for local students to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.
ABOUT THE ROLES:
We have a small number of primary positions available across Grades K-6 and are inviting expressions of interest from passionate classroom Teachers. We are also seeking experienced generalists Teachers capable of taking sole charge of Grades 7 and 8 classes and teaching across the full range of Lower Secondary curriculum areas:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Science (History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship)
- Personal Development (including Health, PE, values education, and life skills)
- Making A Living (agriculture, entrepreneurship, practical life skills)
RBBA Primary and Middle School Teachers are expected to:
- Deliver across multiple learning areas in a generalist model
- Integrate ICT and Creative Arts into their lessons
- Take responsibility for both academic and pastoral care of their class
- Contribute to the development of school culture and boarding community life
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with the SBC curriculum and PNG educational standards; conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment; implement effective strategies for engagement and behaviour.
- Student Support: Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development; create individualised learning plans where required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the Primary and Secondary teams, as well as RBBA leadership, SDP and KTF.
- Parent & Guardian Communication: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Operations & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, and student progress; report to the Principal and Deputy Principal.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and remain current with educational best practice.
- Other: Perform duties as directed by RBBA management; adhere to all KTF policies, safeguarding, and compliance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Education, or equivalent - ESSENTIAL
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience - ESSENTIAL
- Full (primary) teaching registration - ESSENTIAL

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
- Strong knowledge of PNG education standards and SBC curriculum
- Ability to deliver across multiple subjects in a generalist model (especially for Grades 7–8)
- High-level communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
- Classroom management and student-centred pedagogy
- Competence with ICT for teaching, reporting, and administration
- Commitment to inclusive education and supporting diverse learners
- Willingness to engage in school life, including co-curricular and boarding support
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must have the right to work in PNG
- Willingness to relocate to Balimo during the academic year
- Compliance with KTF safeguarding standards (police check, child protection, etc.)
