Project Officer-(Architecture): Kiunga based role
This role is responsible for the efficient implementation of all building projects within the 158 villages under the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) and the 6 Mine villages. Typical building projects includes but not limited to:
- Housing
- Aid Post/Health Centres
- Classrooms
- Community Learning Centres
- Market Building
- Church Building
- Water Catchment Buildings
The role also ensures that buildings are properly designed, materials quantified, and realistic costing is provided to the clients, following OTDF tender guidelines, good project management practice and reporting requirements. Regular project site visits/inspection and project update meetings with the contractor and client must be maintained throughout the construction phase.
Qualifications, skills, work experiences and attributes preferred for this role are:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Building or Architecture from a recognised University.
- 3-5 years relevant work experience in leading and managing projects.
- Sound technical skills in building designs/ materials quantifying/costing
- Some experience in tender processes
- Have experience in project site visits and supervising of contractors.
- Have a working knowledge of AutoCad software
- Have experience of working in a similar role in a development organisation may be an advantage.
- Having Professional certifications in Project Management may be an advantage
- Carry out site investigations and produce reports
- Prepare and present design proposals to clients & communicate with them to identify and define project requirements scope and objectives.
- Be comfortable in advising clients on the practicality of their projects
- Produce detailed drawings using AutoCAD software
- Prepare a Bill of Quantities with specifications for contactors to use when submitting tenders
- Be involved in contractor selection and tender reporting.
- Prepare tender documents, coordinate and monitor the work of contractors
- Assess completed works and arrange payments to contractors
- Ensure all projects are well organised and completed on time and within budget. Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures
- Conduct site visits to check on progress
- Sound problem solving skills and experience related to construction
- Have some supervisory and leadership skills and experience
- Have effective communication skills
