The Project Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating the project schedule across all phases of construction. This role ensures alignment between time, cost, and resource planning to support on-time and on-budget delivery. The position requires close collaboration with engineers, quantity surveyors, and project managers to monitor performance and mitigate delays.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Pre-Construction Stage
Develop the Master Project Schedule using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
Define the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activity sequences, durations, and dependencies.
Identify project milestones, deliverables, and critical paths for effective tracking.
Support the preparation of manpower, material, and equipment forecasts.
Coordinate with the commercial and cost teams to ensure schedule-cost alignment.
Review cost estimates with quantity surveyors and estimators for scheduling accuracy.
2. Construction Stage
Monitor actual work progress against the baseline schedule and identify variances.
Update schedules regularly based on site conditions, change orders, or revised scopes.
Highlight potential delays and assess their impact on overall project timelines.
Coordinate with project teams to propose recovery plans when needed.
Generate weekly and monthly project progress reports with visual timelines and critical path tracking.
3. Post-Construction Stage
Prepare detailed close-out schedules to support final inspections and commissioning activities.
Analyze and compare planned versus actual performance data to assess overall schedule efficiency.
Develop delay analysis and Extension of Time (EOT) reports with supporting documentation for claims.
4. Final Completion & Handover
Ensure all project planning and scheduling records are updated and properly archived.
Document lessons learned and provide input to improve future scheduling methodologies and project planning processes.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in project planning and scheduling.
Proficient in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other recognized scheduling software.
Solid understanding of construction processes, project phases, and planning principles.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and coordinating with project stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure in dynamic project environments.
Full-time position based at the project office with regular visits to construction sites.
May require occasional extended hours to meet reporting deadlines or resolve schedule issues.
Work may involve outdoor site inspections in varying weather and environmental conditions.
