ABOUT BALIMO COLLEGE EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS
The Balimo College was established by SDP in 2019 as a pathway to brighter futures in Western Province through education. The campus is an integrated, multi-disciplinary hub that improves access to studies in education and health at all levels, through:
- Balimo College - offering tertiary qualifications at the School of Teaching (Diploma & Degree studies in primary teaching) and the School of Nursing (Bachelor of General Nursing)
- Balimo FODE - secondary school certification and GPA upgrades through Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE)
- Western Province E-learning & teacher in-service Project - professional development and resourcing programs in schools around the area.
- The Hon. Roy Biyama Balimo Academy (RBBA) - offering a high standard of education from K1 to Grade 12, with quality resourcing across all grades and disciplines, including a library, ICT and science labs and boarding facilities for students from remote villages across Western.
HON. ROY BIYAMA BALIMO ACADEMY (RBBA):
The school commenced in 2024 and is growing rapidly, aiming to cater for 1000 students in Grades K–12 by 2028. The Academy operates in an environment conducive to quality teaching and learning that is inclusive and responsive to additional needs and removing educational barriers for local students to learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.
ABOUT THE ROLES:
We are recruiting passionate experienced educators to join our growing team in 2026. We are seeking educators who will foster a positive school culture and the ability to drive academic excellence among their students. Successful candidates will be part of a team of approximately 15 secondary teachers (Grades 9–12) and deliver across a combination of core and elective subjects.
Subject specialisms we are particularly seeking include:
- English & Language & Literature (with History or Geography or The Arts)
- Mathematics A & B (with Physics or Science)
- Science specialists (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology)
- Social Science (History, Geography, Social Science)
- Business & Economics (Business Studies, Economics)
- ICT (Grades 9–12, stand-alone subject)
- Agriculture (Grades 9–12, with capacity for Science support)
Teachers should be able to deliver at least one major subject and one minor (related) subject in line with the RBBA’s staffing model. Other major/minor combinations of the above subjects may be considered. Well qualified applicants with diverse skill sets will be highly received.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with the SBC curriculum and PNG educational standards; conduct assessments and provide feedback; utilise varied teaching methods.
- Student support and classroom management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment; implement effective classroom management strategies; support students as they prepare for examinations.
- Student Assessment: Conduct marking and assessment; provide constructive feedback; create individualised learning plans where needed.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within RBBA, SDP and KTF; participate in meetings and professional development activities.
- Parent and Guardian Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress; attend parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Operations: Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and assessment data; report to the Principal, Deputy Principal and Head of Teaching and Learning.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of current educational trends and participate in ongoing training.
- Other: Any other duties as directed by RBBA management; adherence to all KTF policies and safeguarding standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Education – or equivalent - ESSENTIAL
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience - ESSENTIAL
- Full (secondary) teaching registration – ESSENTIAL

- Knowledge of PNG educational regulations and compliance standards.
- High-level communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to research and apply a range of teaching strategies for diverse learners.
- Competence with information and communication technologies for teaching and administration.
- Openness to learning new and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants must have the right to work in PNG
- Willingness to relocate to Balimo during the academic year
- Compliance with KTF safeguarding standards (police check, child protection, etc.)
