About the role
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Automotive Electrician for multiple locations including, Lae, Goroka, Port Moresby, Kokopo, Tabubil and Mt. Hagen. The successful candidate will report to the Workshop Team Leader and work closely with other technicians. Responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems across a wide range of vehicles. From lighting systems to complex control units, your expertise will help ensure vehicles are safe, efficient, and road-ready.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct accurate diagnosis and repair of electrical faults using diagnostic tools
  • Repair overhaul vehicle electrical systems including starters, alternators, wiring, and ECUs.
  • Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets, and documentation for each repair.
  • Assit in estimating repair costs and discussing findings with the workshop controller.
  • Conduct quality control through test driving and performance verification after repairs.
  • Train and support apprentices or trade assistants when required.
  • Use tools and equipment safely while maintaining cleanliness and compliance with workshop standards.
  • Attend training as directed and stay up to date with new vehicle systems and technology.
Requirements of the Role
  • Certified Automotive Electrician
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in automotive electrical systems.
  • Experience working in a dealership environment is preferred
  • Valid Class 6 and/or Class 4 driver’s licence is highly desirable.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills using electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of multiple vehicle models and ability to work under pressure.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel for breakdowns and occasional sleep-outs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital job logging systems.
