Training Officer
Job Summary:
The GBV Training Officer will support the design, delivery, and follow-up of GBV training activities across assigned provinces. The role focuses on building capacity of frontline workers and stakeholders on GBV prevention, response, and referral systems.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Training Delivery
- Deliver GBV training sessions for health workers and relevant stakeholders at provincial and district levels.
- Support adaptation of training materials to local contexts while maintaining technical integrity.
- Facilitate participatory, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed learning approaches.
Field Coordination
- Work closely with PHAs and local partners to organize training logistics and participant engagement.
- Support follow-up mentoring, coaching, and refresher sessions as required.
- Document field-level challenges, feedback, and good practices.
Safeguarding & Ethics
- Apply survivor-centered principles and confidentiality in all training activities.
- Uphold FHI360 and DFAT safeguarding, PSEAH, and child protection standards.
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with protocols.
Reporting
- Prepare timely activity reports, attendance records, and training evaluations.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement of training approaches.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Postgraduate qualification in public health, social sciences, gender studies, development, or related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in GBV programming, training, or gender-focused, community based interventions.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, community development, public health, education, or related field.
- Strong facilitation and adult learning skills.
- Experience working with provincial health systems or community structures in PNG.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical office environment: ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (10-25%).
- Occasional work outside regular office hours may be required for urgent project needs.
TECHNOLOGY TO BE USED
- Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and other standard office equipment.
LOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT
Port Moresby, National Capital District, Papua New Guinea.
