Barrick (Niugini) Limited ("BNL") is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. BNL is an independently managed company and is jointly owned through an equal partnership between Barrick Gold and Zijin Mining Group. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

The Porgera Joint Venture now has vacancies for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position:

Engineer – Electrical Maintenance Planning (ID 1546)

The primary role of the Engineer – Maintenance Planning is ensuring that planned maintenance activities are appropriately planned (resources, parts, equipment, tooling) and scheduled (with production and maintenance) so that the work progresses on schedule in a safe, efficient and repeatable manner. The successful incumbents will work in Fixed Plant Electrical incorporating underground and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A recognized Diploma or Degree in Engineering is essential
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling principles and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive approach towards safety
  • Minimal 3 years’ experience in relevant technical area desirable
  • Sound knowledge & experience using (CMMS) Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel and Word

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Planning and Scheduling the Fixed Plant Electrical, Underground Electrical.
  • Weekly Schedule in consultation with Production, Reliability and Maintenance
  • Long term plan for Plant Shutdowns ensuring resources, parts, materials, equipment and services are available when required
  • Define with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering sections required shutdown work scopes. Ensuring that all inspections, recertification, repair, overhaul and modifications requirements are included in such scope of works
  • Provide significant input into the development of maintenance strategies to ensure that PM’s will deliver desired equipment performance measures
  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant PJV policies & Procedures
