We are currently seeking foremen who will be reporting to the General Foreman and will be responsible to provide to support to our road maintenance projects along the Kiunga – Tabubil Highway.

The successful applicants to this position will be able to supervise, lead and coordinate workers engaged on construction and road maintenance projects and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a positive attitude towards working safely.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead workers on road construction and road maintenance jobs from start to finish and coordinate work activities with other projects, and miscellaneous jobs.
• Carry out job site preparation in compliance with OTML and Starwest safety requirements and standards to ensure maximum safety for workers and the surrounding public.
• All jobs must be carried out according to site instructions at the expected standard and quality
• Ensure record keeping of equipment and manning hours for docketing.
• Review work progress and ensure work schedules are followed to complete projects on time and provide regular reports to the General Foreman and the clients.
• Require driving a light vehicle in performance of duties
• Operate the grader when required
• Must demonstrate effective team management

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 5 years work experience in similar supervisory roles in civil constructions industry and directly supervising a team of at least 10 workers
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Must be competent in driving light vehicles and hold a Class 3 and 6 PNG Driver’s License
• Must be competent to operate the grader and hold a valid class 7 operator license
• Ideal to have the ability to be constantly aware of multiple construction activities including movement of personnel, movement of heavy equipment between project sites, and site inspections by clients or business partners.
• Effective communication skills in speaking and writing is essential for this role
• Must have strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Must have strong planning, organizing, and coordinating skills
• Minimum of Grade 10 or 12 Education required and preferable to have tertiary diploma or certificate level in Project Management
• Have an OHS Certificate in Level 1 or higher
• Competency Certificate in Grader Operator
• Must be physically fit and able and able to work under extreme conditions
