We are currently seeking to recruit Fitters for our Fixed Plant Maintenance Department – Mechanical Section. Reporting to the Senior Fitters, the successful applicants will mainly be responsible for safely performing preventative maintenance and repairs of Fixed Plant equipment.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Safely perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on crushing, conveying, grinding, flotation and pumping equipment
• Identify and report unsafe or defective tooling and equipment to immediate Supervisor
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work area
• Develop Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA) for each task and work within team environment
• Report all accidents and incidents, no matter how minor to immediate Supervisor
• Provide informative handovers to supervisor or other Trades Persons
• Actively participate in the development of on the job training plans
• Capable of locating and understanding SWP repair procedures, technical data and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Provide accurate and concise written feedback on work orders as regards to hours of work, work performed, parts used and status of job or equipment condition
• Abide by Company Safety Processes and safety tools in the work place

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• Minimum Grade 12 Level Education
• Fitter/Machinist by trade with PNG NATTB Tradesman Certificate
• Minimum 5 years or more experience in a similar role, preferably within the Mining Industry
• Have broad experience and repairs on crushing, conveying, grinding, flotation and pumping equipment
• Have basic lathe machining skills and use of pneumatic hand tools
• Sound planning and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills,
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Demonstrate matured approach and strong self-discipline
• Preferably Class 3 PNG Drivers Licence

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based.
