The Role

Reporting to the Human Resource Superintendent, the incumbent will assist with maintenance of Human Resource Systems and Processes and also provide efficient and timely Human Resources support and advice to St Barbara's Simberi Operations.

This is a FIFO position on a 21 days on, 14 days off roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Mt. Hagen/Kavieng/ Rabaul/ Port Moresby/ Lae or Tabar group of Islands.

Key roles and responsibilities include

  • Supporting fair and consistent application of Human Resources policies, procedures and processes.
  • Supporting all People Systems and Processes and provide advice to stakeholders as appropriate on (Recruitment, On-boarding, Work Performance, Career Development, Exit the Company, Training and Development, Discipline, Leave and Workers Compensation).
  • Assisting with the end-to-end recruitment process.
  • Assisting with the engagement of contractors for Simberi Operations including updating the contractor database.
  • Supporting the establishment of the desired culture across the Company.
  • Contributing productively as a member of the Human Resources Team.
  • Providing timely support to Human Resources Superintendent.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara Values
  • Three (3) years relevant work experience in Human Resources/Training and Development
  • A tertiary qualification or TAFE qualification in Human Resources related discipline
  • Instructional design experience
  • Recruitment experience
  • Have a high level of attention to detail
  • Highly effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • High energy with a positive attitude
  • Build and maintain relationships across all levels of the business
  • Previous relevant work experience in mining or heavy industry, on site.
