Logistic & Procurement Officer Entry Level- (Mt Hagen Based)

CARE International in PNG is recruiting a Logistic & Procurement Officer Entry Level for its WASH Project.

The water, sanitation and hygiene project (WASH) aim to improve access to WASH services in up to 50 schools, 9 health care facilities and 200 communities in Hagen Central by helping them achieve open defecation-free status and improving hygiene practices and services.

This position is responsible for all the WASH project procurement of goods and services, inventory control and transportation. This will include ensuring the efficient and timely movement of WASH supplies, arrangement and management of the necessary support facilities (e.g. office equipment and supplies, fuel, communications equipment, vehicle etc.), and associated procedures needed to support the implementation. This work may require travel to rural, remote project sites.


  • Minimum technical diploma and/or vocational training in Business Administration, Logistics or other related fields and/or minimum 3 years relevant work experience in humanitarian / WASH logistics activities, preferably with an International Non-Government Organisation (INGO) and/or private company;
  • Proven experience in fleet management, logistics including supply chain management and inventory control;
  • A high level of communication skills, interpersonal skills, patience, and non-directive personality.
  • Demonstrated experience in following standard policies, procedures and processes and ensure the implementation of basic standard transactions;
  • Able to organise and prioritise work.
  • A willingness to learn about CARE, gender equality and women’s empowerment activities;
  • Proven ability to manage and acquit a cash advance;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, planning, problem solving and team building skills;
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work under pressure and to organise and manage workload to meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated characteristics in honesty, reliability, trustworthiness with the ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Fluent communication skills in Pidgin and intermediate oral and written English; and
  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word and numeric skills with advanced Excel.
