POSITION VACANT – OPERATIONS OFFICER

The Mapai Group is a Nationally owned Transport, Logistics and Custom Agents based in Lae with Branches in Goroka and Mt. Hagen. The Group specializes in logistics, large trucking, customs clearance, and freight forwarding.

The Mapai Group is seeking to recruit an experienced Operations Officer to be based at Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Provide input and guidance over the daily transport jobs and functions of the operations
• Ensure safe, timely & efficient movement of client cargo and/or containers whilst compliance with the client’s requirement (both highway and local/metro movements).
• Upkeeping appropriate records associated with cargo and container movements to ensure accurate, efficient reporting and tracking
• Maintain a high-level focus on client service and creating good professional relationships
• Monitor vehicle fleet & equipment and raise job cards to workshop when a mechanical issue is identified in ensuring a continuity of service
• Other responsibilities that may be required within the scope of this position

The Candidate Requirement

• Minimum grade 12 level of education
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience within the transport/heavy haulage industry
• Strong verbal and written communication & customer service skills
• Flexible to work long hours & has ability to work under pressure
• Able to do multiple tasks & meet deadlines
• Above average computer literacy skills in MS Word/Excel/ or Outlook, and other specific logistic programs is an advantage
• Possess current driver’s license (Class 3 or 6)
