Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in more than 70 countries around the world. MSF is dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, belief or political affiliation. In PNG, MSF has been working since 2005 in places such as Lae, Tari and Bougainville. MSF is now extending its activities in order to support the Department of Health to improve access to care for tuberculosis patients in Gulf Province and NCD.


  • Collect and report to Outreach Manager specific information related to NCD communities;
  • Support the mapping of the territory and population: schools, churches, villages, etc.;
  • Tracing activity: in collaboration with the Hospital nurse Manager providing information whom to trace and according to the SOP tracing - CM will conduct the activity.
  • Consolidate the link between MSF and other actors: his/her community, local authorities etc.
  • Contribute to the elaboration of safety guidelines for the outreach activity
  • Identify Hotspot where patients are from (information from the hospital/BMU).
  • Paticipate with Medical team in public events where MSF presence is desired (e.g. NGO fairs, sport events etc.) and other awareness session requests by various stakeholders;
  • Participate in organising community or BMU trainings with NCDoH and MSF staff: offer logistical support and assess security, facilitate access to community venues
  • Advise the expatriate staff on culturally appropriate behavior and sensitive community approach in relation with the project.

  • Minimum 1 year working experience in similar positions will be preferred.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Good knowledge of local languages.
  • Previous experience with an international NGO is an asset (volunteer or professional)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of Port-Moresby security dynamic
