ROLE DESCRIPTION

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 34 years. Today we are in one of the largest business schools in the country and offer degree programs in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies, and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 11 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

As an Alumni and Placement Coordinator, Develop and nurture relationships with local, regional, and national employers to create internship and job placement opportunities for students. This involves cold calling, networking at industry events, and leveraging existing connections to establish partnerships. Plan and execute career fairs, employer information sessions, and networking events on campus to connect students with potential employers. Coordinate logistics, invite employers, and promote events to maximize student participation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with alumni.
  • Organize and coordinate alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities.
  • Manage alumni communication channels (e.g., email newsletters, social media platforms) to keep alumni informed and engaged.
  • Facilitate alumni mentorship programs, connecting students with experienced professionals.
  • Secure alumni donations and sponsorships to support university initiatives.
  • Student Placement Services:
  • Build relationships with employers and develop internship and job placement opportunities.
  • Organize career fairs and employer information sessions on campus.
  • Maintain an online job portal for students to access internship and job postings.
  • Track student placement data and success rates in securing employment.

Qualification & Experiences

  • IBSUniversity Graduate
  • Has good public relations and leader leader-oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with composure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes

.Key competencies:

  • Outspoken and able to relate well with people.
  • Team player and be able to contribute ideas and participate with others.
  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills

Languages

  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Fluency in Tok Pisin was preferred and Hiri Motu was accepted not essential.
