ROLE DESCRIPTION

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades & Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 34 years. Today we are in one of the largest business schools in the country and offer degree programs in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Business & Management, Economics & Development Studies, and Information Technology. We also continue to provide study pathways for grade 10 & 11 school leavers including industry accreditations for those seasoned professionals who want to get certified in their field.

Our success is the fruit of our dedicated team committed to making a difference in Papua New Guinea, through their efforts to help educate current and future citizens on Papua New Guinea.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

As a Career Guidance Counsellor, you will be passionate about helping individuals discover their career paths and achieve their professional goals and ,also you will play a vital role in providing personalized career guidance and support to our students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducting individual counseling sessions to assess students' interests, skills, and goals.
• Administering and interpreting career assessment tools to identify strengths and aptitudes.
• Researching and providing information on various career paths, educational programs, and job markets.
• Assisting clients in developing resumes, cover letters, and interview skills.
• Helping clients develop effective job search strategies and prepare for job interviews.
• Staying up-to-date on labor market trends and emerging career fields.
• Collaborating with educators, employers, and community organizations to provide comprehensive career guidance services.
• Maintaining records of students' interactions and tracking their career progress.
• Organizing career workshops or information sessions to enhance students' employability skills.

Qualification & Experiences

• Must be Graduate from IBSUniversity and College
• Proven customer service experience, preferably in a similar role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with composure.
• Positive attitude and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes

Key competencies:

• Outspoken and able to relate well with people.
• Team player and be able to contribute ideas and participate with others.
• Excellent Oral and written communication skills

Languages

• Fluency in spoken and written English
• Fluency in Tok Pisin was preferred and Hiri Motu accepted not essential.
