Job Description:

The Construction Manager of Civil Engineering will oversee all aspects of civil construction projects, from initial planning to final execution. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects meet specifications and deadlines. Responsibilities include estimating costs, preparing tenders, managing contracts, overseeing design, implementing training programs, and enforcing QA and OHS policies.

This is a residential role based in Port Moresby with regular travel to other project locations around the country. This is NOT a FIFO position.

Ideally, the candidate will hold a Civil Engineering degree, however, profiles with a strong track record in leadership and delivery of a wide range of civil projects up to $50m will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Key tasks will include overseeing the estimation and tender preparation, contract administration, performing design management, develop and implementing training systems, manage project deadlines and budgets, provide direction to Project Managers and instill and monitor improved QA systems, OHS policy and dialogue within the respective divisions to ensure the timely completion of projects within budget.

Prior exposure to Papua New Guinea or other developing nations is highly advantageous. Your ability to effectively work with multicultural teams and respect cultural customs will be a key to success in this role.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field
  • 10+ experience in construction management, preferably in civil engineering
  • Proficient in construction methods, materials, and techniques
  • Demonstrated leadership with successful delivery of civil projects up to $50m
  • Excellent project management skills: budgeting, scheduling, resource management
  • Proficiency in construction management software
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
  • Strong leadership abilities, motivating team members towards project goals
