The Company

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and Board, you will play a key influencing role in the group to provide oversight to the enterprise-wide risk management strategy and framework that translates the risk appetite framework into informed decision-making practices to support the Company’s unique business model and strategic plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the implementation of the whole risk function, including implementation of process, tools and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor & report risk
  • Monitor in the development of managed process to identify & evaluate business areas risk and risk control self-assessments
  • Ensure the bank's compliance with PNG's AML/CTF legislation from the Bank of PNG and develop and implement risk policies in accordance with BPNG Standards and Board directives.
  • Actively monitor high risk accounts to ensure that appropriate strategies are agreed to and complied with
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of key indicators, identifying emerging risks that present new regularly, fraud or money laundering risks.
  • Assist in guiding executive management on risk appetite and the market conditions
  • Credit quality and ongoing portfolio management reviews to cover Credit Risk Review and compliance outcomes
  • Support the functions of Internal Audit Department in their risk management activities
  • Develop training programs in conjunction with the business to grow knowledge internally

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior risk and compliance role within the commercial banking space
  • Bachelor of Business, Accounting Risk, Management, Economics or related discipline
  • Advanced knowledge in AML/CTF legislation, Commercial Law, Credit Analyst, Loan Structuring and Treasury Activities at Bank-wide level.
  • Policy and Procedure writing skills
  • Advanced knowledge in legislation and directions from the Bank of PNG and FASU
  • Strong Understanding of Risk and Compliance frameworks
  • Understanding of PNG environment or ability to adapt and apply learnings to PNG
  • Advanced technical skills in Financial Analysis
  • Well-developed People Management Skills in a high-performance work culture
  • Critical thinking skills – Strategic and Analytical with the ability to disaggregate business plans into components
  • Interpersonal skills – Strong verbal and written communication
  • Keen business acumen – Business and financial judgment, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong process orientation – A strong understanding of processes and core management activities
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and train people
