We are seeking to recruit a Plumber for our Fixed Plant Maintenance – Site Services Department. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs of water and sewage treatment plants, and perform general plumbing services across site.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Conduct general maintenance and installation of plumbing systems across company site and buildings
  • Actively participate in the development of on the job training plans
  • Identify and report unsafe or defective tooling to Supervisor
  • Stand in as Supervisor as required and run shift in an efficient manner as required
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a proper manner within Government regulations & Company policy
  • Perform repair and maintenance of site water and sewage treatment plants
  • Collaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing defects.
  • Prepare and documenting job status reports
  • Procure plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building
  • Comply with site health and safety procedures and standards
  • Prepare schedules and oversee other workers, such as labour hired contractors

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • Minimum Grade 10 Level of Education
  • NATTB Trade Certification in Plumbing
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction and domestic plumbing; preferably in a mining industry
  • Had work exposure in industrial water and sewage treatment plants
  • Capable of locating, reading and understanding repair procedures, technical data and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Good Communication Skills – both Written & Verbal
  • Can work with computer - familiar with computerized work systems
  • Willing and able to work with a flexible company roster and to varying hours
  • Be a team player, fostering diverse abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervisor employees
  • Must have ability to train, coaching and mentoring
  • Strong safety focus
  • Must have a valid PNG Driver’s License (Class 3/Class 6)

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based
