We are seeking to recruit Fitters for our Fixed Plant Maintenance – Site Services Department. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the primary objective of this role is to safely perform preventive maintenance and repairs of fixed plant equipment.

Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Safely perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on mine site white goods like laundry equipment and industrial kitchen equipment, sewerage and water treatment plant equipment and pumping systems
• Identify and report unsafe or defective tooling and equipment to Supervisor
• Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for given tasks
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work area
• Have the ability to evaluate equipment damage and to assess the extent of repairs required
• Develop Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA) for each task and work within team environment
• Report all accidents and incidents, no matter how minor
• Report all accidents and incidents to your immediate supervisor
• Provide informative handovers to supervisor or other trades persons
• Capable of locating, reading and understanding SWP repair procedures, technical data and Material Safety Data Sheets [MSDS]
• Utilise MCGL Harmony safety systems and procedures
• Actively participate in the development of on the job training plans
• Provide accurate and concise written feedback on work orders as regards hours of work, work performed, parts used and status of job or equipment condition
• Ensure all tooling is returned to proper storage location on completion of tasks

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• Fitter Machinist Tradesman certificate from PNG National Apprenticeship Trade Testing Board (NATTB).
• Minimum 5 years or more experience in a similar role, preferably within the Mining industry
• Demonstrate sound technical skills with the ability to trouble shoot
• Basic working knowledge of computerized maintenance systems.
• Sound planning and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrate matured approach and strong self-discipline
• Good oral and written communications skills in English and Tok Pisin
• PNG Class 3 or 6 drivers licence

The above role is Hidden Valley mine site based
