ICT Business Manager
The ICT Manager is primarily responsible for efficient and effective Management of System Operation and Maintenance in repair service in the Electronic Service Unit (ESU) and sales to support staff and students to achieve academic excellence. The ICT Business Manager will work under the direct guidelines of the ICT Director. The successful candidate will be performing the following responsibilities:
- Manage System Operation and Maintenance, ensuring harmony in work relationship and provision of efficient ICT services, computing and electronic maintenance and support services.
- Determine priorities, formulate schedules and control relevant tasks including client’s equipment.
- Procure electronic and computing equipment including associated accessories and consumables on behalf of Unitech and general clients, and oversee their installation and correct operation.
- Procure electronic components, parts and miscellaneous.
- Ensure adequate inventory of consumable supplies and spare parts for an approved range of electronic and computing equipment.
- Formulate, review and control the annual budgeted items related to the activities of ESU and DNS
- Participate in strategic planning and formulation of policies for development of ICTS.
- Negotiate and evaluate contracts for purchase, tenders for supply, rental and maintenance of a broad range of computing and electronic equipment.
- Participate in staff recruitment including training and staff development activities to update knowledge and skills relevant to this position and supervise internal/external training programs for staff and to implement ICTS staffing policies.
- Ensure safety standards of the working environment are maintained and staff welfare is accorded.
- Perform specialist operations and maintenance tasks or projects.
- Manage the acquisition, presentation, pricing and resale of a range of electronic and computing equipment including consumables, accessories and parts.
- Manage DNS Operation, Maintenance and support services.
- Marketing DNS (.PG) to the public, government, schools and other potential clients.
- Control and monitor provision of billing of services to clients and promote a good public image of the ICT’s services.
- Manages campus Cable TV (or other Digital TV services) and ensures campus members enjoy the coverage.
- Commissioning and decommissioning of ICT equipment.
- Keep inventory of ICT Asset Registry.
- Perform general duties assigned by the ICTS Director.
The successful candidate must possess the following requirements;
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Business IT from recognized institution
- 8 years’ experience in ICT and 3 years’ experience in Managerial or Team Leadership roles.
- Skilled Knowledge in procurement processes, logistics & Control
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside the university.
- Ability to learn quickly and is a self-starter
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility with work and can be reliable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
Condition of Service:
ICT Business Manager – K53,147.00 – K64,958.00 per annum
Domestic Market Allowance – K8,681.00 – K12,687.00 per annum
(Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience)
