Summary

The Junior MEP Engineer is integral to the support and execution of field operations pertaining to construction and maintenance under the direction of the Senior MEP Engineer. This role involves a variety of foundational tasks aimed at ensuring that all aspects of the project adhere to the established specifications and client requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the interpretation and review of project documents such as scope of work, client requirements, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), project milestones, and specifications.
  • Identify and document potential issues and queries for clarification from the project owner.
  • Participate in sourcing materials by coordinating with suppliers approved by the procurement department.
  • Help in the evaluation of bids from contractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of resource estimates including manpower, tools, and equipment necessary for project execution.
  • Manage the collection and preparation of material submittals from chosen suppliers to comply with project specifications.
  • Provide support in overseeing the construction process to ensure compliance with design, technical specifications, and drawings.
  • Assist in the drafting and preparation of design documentation, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Senior MEP Engineer.
  • Collaborate with the Senior MEP Engineer to implement any necessary changes to project drawings and address related technical issues.

Job Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; a Specialist Diploma in M&E Coordination is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in design, development, and consulting within the real estate or related industries.
  • Proficient understanding of applicable codes, standards, and regulations including AS/NZS and requirements from PNG Local Authorities.
  • Capable of performing electrical and mechanical analysis and calculations.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Skilled in design, preparing cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and manpower planning for project proposals and changes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and other relevant engineering software.
  • High level of creativity, problem-solving capability, results orientation, communication skills, and teamwork.
  • Excellent command of English, both in verbal and written form.
