Officer, Senior – Community Relation and Engagement – CSR
We are seeking a dedicated experienced Senior Officer to join the Community Relationships and Engagement Department at New Porgera Limited. The Senior Officer will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining positive relationships with local communities, facilitating dialogue, collaboration, and supporting initiatives that contributes to community well-being and sustainable development.
The ideal candidate must have:
Minimum of Grade 12 or above Education level is desirable in the Public Relations, Community Development, or a related field
Significant experience of 5 years or more in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or related roles, preferably within the mining or extractive industry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
Understanding of social, environmental, and economic issues impacting communities near mining operations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences
Passion for making a positive impact and contributing to the well-being of communities
Proven track record of successfully managing complex community relations issues and driving positive outcome
Key Responsibilities but are not limited to the following:
Serve as a primary point of contact between our mining operation and the local community stakeholders.
Proactively engage with local community members, stakeholders, and leaders to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations
Cultivate strong relationships built on trust, transparency, and mutual respect with community members, governmental bodies, NGOs, and other relevant parties
Serve as a liaison between the mine and the community, ensuring clear and effective communication channels are established and maintained
Implementation of community development programs aimed at enhancing the socio-economic well-being of community members, including education, health, and infrastructure initiatives
Collaborate with community members and organizations to identify opportunities for sustainable development projects and initiatives
Address community grievances and concerns in a timely and empathetic manner, working towards mutually beneficial resolutions.
Serve as a primary point of contact between our mining operation and the local community stakeholders
Implement engagement programs designed to foster positive relationships, address community concerns, and enhance the overall well-being of community members.
Execute comprehensive communication strategies to effectively communicate the company's initiatives, achievements, and commitments to the community and external stakeholders.
Advocate for the interests of both the mining operation and the community
Act as a mediator in resolving any community-related issues or conflicts that may arise, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and effectively
Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant PJV policies & procedures.
Mobilization Requirements
All applicants must have an up to date police clearance certificate, obtained within the last 6 months
Ability to successfully pass a pre - employment medical and drug and alcohol test
Be a Local Tari (specifically from the footprints of the mine)
Candidate and be available to start immediately
The Roster is 10 days on and 4 days off
