About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Production Trainer to join the Santos team. Based at our offices in Papua New Guinea, this position reports to Operations Training Interface and is responsible for providing job support, training and assessment to Production Staff, Production Apprentices and trainees, so that they acquire and apply the necessary skills to safely, efficiently and effectively operate the facility, as well as contribute to and add value to the Production and Maintenance teams.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Deliver all aspects of production assessments and training and ensure activity is compliant with the Competency Based Training (CBT) program and other relevant company standards.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Training Interface, Production Team and others to develop training strategies, approaches, plans and materials in line with the CBT program to ensure the most effective tools and applications are available to assess and train production trainees to the standards required.
  • Prepares plans and organises a schedule of assessments and training in line with the requirements of the CBT program and the Production Team.
  • Role models the value of Always Safe and promotes the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment and Security policies in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Readiness and Assurance Manager, Operations Training Interface, Peers and others to evaluate the assessment and training process to provide feedback in order to continually improve the CBT program.
  • Effectively manages completed training and assessment records and ensures timely entry into relevant systems
The position is a rotational 28days on, 28days off and is based at the Iagifu Ridge Camp, Kutubu, Southern Highlands Province. Travel to other Santos PNG sites will also be required.
About You
Holding relevant Accreditation in Training and Assessing TAE40116 (or upgradable), as well as Australian PMA 08 Cert IV, equivalent qualifications or demonstrable experience, the ideal candidate will also possess significant experience in Oil & Gas Operations. You will also have demonstrable experienced in Control of Work (CoW) / Permit to Work (PTW) systems and ideally time spent in a Training/ Lead/ Supervisor role.
It is essential that you are proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, with a high attention to detail and excellent communication skills. This role will suit those who take ownership of assignments from start to finish, reports progress and challenges and demonstrate strong judgement and discretion on confidential matters. You will also possess strong time management and administrative skills, the ability to prioritise workload and will be adaptable, capable of setting and changing priorities as demands of the Training Department role and commitments change. Experience dealing with Senior Management personnel is also essential.
The successful candidate must be willing to be vaccinated or will currently hold a recognised Vaccination Card.
