Today, Heli Niugini operates a modern fleet of over 15 aircraft consisting of 6 design types and employees over 160 highly skilled and motivated employees. The Fleet operates in excess of 10,000 hours per annum with work covering a wide spectrum, incorporating oil and mining exploration support, precision construction, general charter and flying in support of seismic operations.
This is a lot different from our humble start in the early 80’s when our then, parent company Heli Bougainville had one helicopter and only operated in Bougainville for CRA. In the mid 80’s, Heli Niugini was formed to take advantage of the prospering resource industry and has expanded ever since.
In 2007, a majority of shares in the company shifted to a group of shareholders that brought extensive PNG and operational experience, having owned, run and managed general business and aviation companies in PNG for over 40 years. These individuals brought with them solid business skills and the experience of operating helicopters and fixed wing aircraft world wide.
For Heli Niugini to progress into the future, the Board decided to update the fleet, and a program of replacing older aircraft with current models whilst maintaining the unique types within the fleet. This along with the appointment of a new management team, with extensive PNG, Australian and Asian aviation experience, will see the company dominate its area of the industry in PNG, Australia and Asia in the next decade.
The Board, management and staff are committed to providing a cost effective, safe and timely service to all clients, be it a single hour of charter or a multi year, multi aircraft resource project.
