Your Impact

As an Advisor – People Training (Drilling), you will play a critical role in developing the capability, safety and performance of our drilling workforce. Through coaching, mentoring, assessment and training delivery, you will ensure our people have the skills, confidence and knowledge required to operate safely and effectively. Your contribution will directly support operational excellence, workforce development and safe production outcomes.

As part of our team, you will
  • Develop, deliver and continuously improve training programs, assessment tools and learning materials for drilling operations, specifically facilitate operator training on PV231 and D65 drill training.
  • Facilitate both classroom-based and practical on-the-job training across drilling equipment, procedures and associated operational activities.
  • Conduct competency assessments, provide coaching and mentoring, and support employees throughout their development journey.
  • Conduct field observations and engage with Supervisors and Superintendents to identify capability gaps and training needs.
  • Partner with operational leaders to tailor training solutions that support business objectives and workforce capability requirements.
  • Ensure all training programs align with company, industry and HSE standards.
  • Maintain accurate competency and training records within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Promote proactive safety behaviours and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and manage training resources, including PPE, equipment and training materials.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where collaboration, feedback and continuous learning are encouraged.
Prerequisites for your success in this role

To thrive in this position, you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Open Pit Mining Operations as a Driller, Supervisor, Trainer or similar role.
  • Certificate III in Training and Assessment (or equivalent qualification in education or training).
  • Demonstrated expertise in training within the mining industry.
  • Experience developing training materials, assessments and learning programs.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, facilitation techniques and vocational education and training (VET) processes.
  • Experience delivering both practical field-based and classroom training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, together with experience using Learning Management Systems.
  • Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across operational and support teams.
  • Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement and workforce development.
  • Operator training qualifications (eg. Epiroc).
  • PNG Driver Licence Class 6 and 7 (or ability to obtain).

Working Conditions

This role is offered on a 21:21 Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster to Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea

Our FIFO employees stay in a secure and comfortable camp, in an en-suited and airconditioned room equipped with mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi. A variety of healthy meal options are catered for at our mess; and the wet mess provides a relaxed social setting where employees can unwind with a game of pool or darts.
