Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lifting Specialist and Technical Authority to join one of the most significant LNG projects in PNG. The position ensures safe, efficient, and compliant lifting operations across logistics, construction, drilling, and offshore/onshore activities. Responsibilities include providing technical oversight, mentoring teams, and embedding a strong safety culture while contributing to a strategically important venture that drives growth, innovation, and sustainable development in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead as the Lifting Technical Authority (CPLO Level 3)
- Approve and oversee complex lifts and lifting plans, ensuring precision in engineering calculations and flawless execution.
- Coordinate with contractors, logistics teams, and project stakeholders to align operations with international standards and company policies.
- Validate and monitor the technical competency of Site Lifting Superintendents and contractor specialists, ensuring capability and readiness.
- Monitor below the hook/winch rigging arrangements & load securing for light & heavy helicopters
- Monitor lifting activity with all crane types
- Champion HSE excellence by enforcing compliance, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement through incident investigations and lessons learned.
- Facilitate Lifting Forums and knowledge-sharing initiatives to embed best practices across all operations.
- Provide expertise during tenders and pre-hire equipment assessments to secure safe, reliable, and innovative lifting solutions.
- Mentor and inspire teams, fostering a strong safety culture while promoting technical excellence and operational integrity.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 10 years experience in lifting and handling operations in supervisory capacity
- expertise, industry certifications, and extensive lifting operations experience in the mining, oil, or gas sectors.
- Thorough knowledge of international standards, e.g.: UKOOA, BS, LOLER, NORSOK etc.
- Shall possess valid OPITO BOSEIT & H2S training certificate
- Shall possess valid OPITO LOLER Competent Person (LCP) training.
- Knowledge of Company Lifting Referential
- Proven ability to assess and validate lifting personnel, contractors, and equipment for technical competency and compliance.
- Several creations/writing of Lifting Management System documents, procedures, instructions.
- Good knowledge of MicroSoft Office Package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). AutoCAD is a plus
- Proactive leadership qualities, adaptable under pressure, with a strong commitment to company values, HSE and industry best practices.
