Job Summary

Sheraton Port Moresby seeks an experienced and highly capable Assistant Executive Housekeeper to support the Executive Housekeeper in leading all aspects of the housekeeping operation, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, uniforms, and back-of-house areas.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining Marriott International brand standards, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with proven experience in internationally branded hotels, capable of driving performance, training teams, implementing best practices, and supporting quality assurance and compliance requirements.

Experience with Marriott International brand standards, systems, and operating procedures will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of housekeeping, laundry, uniform, and public area functions.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Marriott brand standards and quality assurance requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and associate facilities.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of housekeeping associates.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
  • Manage productivity, labour costs, and departmental expenses.
  • Coordinate and audit deep cleaning and preventive maintenance programmes.
  • Drive guest satisfaction initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets, forecasts, and operational reports.
  • Ensure associates are trained and developed to Marriott standards and procedures.
  • Act as the Head of Department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' management experience in housekeeping operations within a large internationally branded 4-star or 5-star hotel.
  • Previous Marriott International experience is highly desirable and will be viewed favourably.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting hotel openings, conversions, or implementation of brand standards.
  • Strong working knowledge of OPERA Property Management System and hotel housekeeping systems.
  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Recognised training, coaching, or leadership qualification preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and drive operational excellence.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and people development skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Strong understanding of housekeeping chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Results-oriented with a strong focus on guest satisfaction and quality standards.
