About the Role:
The position requires a proactive team player focused on safety and compliance, reporting to the RSES at Herd Base and supporting the Supply Chain Manager in Port Moresby when needed. It oversees all aviation activities within the project, ensuring aircraft efficiency and compliance with EP16 Directive and company aviation policies, while managing helipads, airstrips, and overall aviation planning within the affiliate’s scope.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily flight schedules, aircraft serviceability, and load uplifts.
Manage flight following within the Purari MBZ and ensure safe communication via Spider Tracks, Sky Net, and radio systems.
Oversee aircraft maintenance planning, helipad/runway inspections, and dangerous goods documentation.
Lead daily aviation meetings and develop SOPs, procedures, and job descriptions for aviation personnel (dispatchers, flight followers, HLOs, ALOs, load masters).
Ensure compliance with HSE and aviation regulations; support audits, inspections, and investigations into incidents/accidents.
Participate in permit-to-work processes, safety tours, and root cause analyses; issue safety feedback notices and lessons learned.
Assess aviation organization and procedures, propose improvements, and support HQ reviews and audits.
Act as focal point for aviation matters across drilling, projects, logistics, and affiliates.
Prepare aviation activity reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with KPIs and usage data.
Coach, mentor, and develop aviation team knowledge; contribute to training plans for aviation and site personnel.
Ensures compliance with all relevant statutory and DGEP rules.
Implements, develops and maintains aviation SOPs to ensure compliance with legislation, Company Safety Management Systems & Group policy and evolving Company objectives.
Coordinates with employees at all levels on HSE matters and promotes safety and environment initiatives.
Accountable for the HSE performance of all aviation activities in TotalEnergies EP PNG.
Required Qualifications/Experience
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 10 years’ aviation industry experience (pilot RW/FW, aircraft engineer, or air traffic controller).
Knowledge of Aviation Safety Management and incident/accident investigation.
Strong leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills in multicultural environments.
Commitment to workforce safety and welfare.
Fluent in English with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
