CreditBank PNG is recruiting for 2x suitable candidates for the role of Banking Assurance Officer.

The incumbent will report to Manager Banking Assurance, the role is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of bank assurance as First Line of Defence (1LOD) for CreditBank PNG. It is also responsible for overseeing risk management, compliance and operations assurance within the bank. The role ensures that banking activities align with regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry best practices. The role is based in Port Moresby.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the bank complies with regulatory, legal, and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement assurance framework to mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Work with regulators and auditors to ensure smooth compliance and banking audits.
  • Monitor banking processes to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Implement and oversee internal control measures to minimize fraud and financial crimes.
  • Identify gaps in operational processes, recommend, and implement.
  • Ensure branches and departments adhere to risk management policies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and follow up on audit findings with banking business.
  • Analyse financial reports and transactions to detect irregularities.
  • Implement corrective actions to address audit recommendations.
  • Ensure Staff are trained on regulatory compliance and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain documentation of assurance and compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with Senior Management to align assurance strategies with business goals.
  • Provide regular reports on compliance, risk status, and audit outcomes.

Other Duties

Other duties directed by Manager Banking Assurance or Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance and business administration or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role

Technical Skills:

  • Construct sound internal controls and monitor adherence to these standards.
  • Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risks.
  • Assist business to develop procedures, process and implement effective framework.
  • Sound Knowledge of the market condition
  • Knowledge of Financial Services Policies and Procedures
  • Establishment of business development strategies to achieve outcomes.
  • Strong Operational Knowledge of Banking Assurance and Compliance.
