CARGO OFFICER - PORT MORESBY

The Cargo Operations Department is seeking for an experienced candidate for the position of Cargo Officer based in Port Moresby. This role is responsible for ensuring that all domestic cargo is accepted, manifested and lodged to traffic for uplift consistent with PNG Air Cargo Management and Procedures Manual and in compliance with IATA Rules, other applicable Regulations and Procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The incumbent must at all times ensure to maintain a high customer service standard at the cargo acceptance counter

• Must ensure to enter all outbound and inbound cargo into the company’s cargo system
• The cargo officer must ensure all dangerous goods are declared and checklists completed before acceptance
• Must ensure to liaise with load control to re-check that all booked cargo is lodged for uplift
• Must ensure all lodged cargo is correctly labelled
• The incumbent must ensure cargo is checked and loaded onto the trolley, manifest is sent to load control on a timely manner
• Must ensure all transit cargo is given priority uplift
• Must ensure to cross check all cargo lodged by cargo agents Must ensure to carry out survey reports when discrepancies are discovered
• The incumbent will ensure all cargo rates are current and correct
• Responsible to for creating and releasing flight manifests immediately after flight departure
• Other tasks/responsibilities as directed by the Cargo Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

• Educated to Grade 12
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience preferably in airlines industry or similar environment
• Current PNG Drivers licence - class 3
• Work place health and safety understanding
• Current Police Clearance
