POSITION TITLE: CASUAL WORKER CLEANER- (Lae Based Only)

CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization, founded in 1971 and working in 70 countries around the world. MSF provides medical assistance to populations in crisis, regardless of race, religion, belief or political affiliation. In PNG, MSF has been working since 2007 in Lae, Taric, Bougainville, Gulf Province and NCD Province. MSF is now working to support the Department of Health to improve access to care for patients in Lae, Jiwaka and Highlands.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Execute, according to hygienic standards, housekeeping, cleaning and tiding up activities in order to ensure public and staff private areas are in good condition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets and other rooms in MSF
• Do the laundry iron clothes and other housekeeping activities.
• Support the cook (washing up, cleaning the kitchen, etc.).
• Sweep and mop the floors.
• Restock supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.) as required.
• Upon arrival, prepare hot water for tea/coffee and refill drinking water.
• Check that the water supply (kitchen, showers, etc.) is sufficient during water cuts.
• Keep premises properly locked (doors, windows)

Office

• Clean offices, bathrooms daily (sweep the surrounding, mop floors, sanitize surfaces, clean toilet, outdoors and stairs)
• Wipe working tables, windows and material around. prepare tea, wash teacups and plates

Guest House

• Wash and iron IMS clothes, beddings and MSF properties such as flags and vests
• Thoroughly clean guest house premises (bedrooms, bathrooms, sink, floor and stairs)
• Organize tables, prepares beds and dining table
• Water and organize flowers in all premises, if any
• Order and properly store kitchen appliances, coffee, tea and sugar
• Report any damage items at the guest house and office
• During staff event and in absence of the cook, clean kitchen and cook staff food

• Based in Morobe
