World Vision Papua New Guinea (WVPNG) has exciting opportunity for those of you who want a change and want to become part of a dynamic team. We are currently looking for a suitable, qualified, experienced, and highly motivated professional to fill the position of Communication & Public Engagement Manager attached with the Communication Department to be based in Port Moresby, National Capital District, Papua New Guinea.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this role is tol ead World Vision’s efforts to increase the overall reputation and trust of the ministry in Papua New Guinea as well as contribute to the effectiveness of World Vision’s various programs for children and communities.

MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Context-driven communications business planning that supports organizational strategy execution is developed and implemented
  • Active member of the Senior Management Team providing advice and support to the Country Director
  • Ensures senior and cross-functional teams have broad understanding of how communications integrates with and strengthens organizational strategy, programming, operations, resource acquisition, and support functions.
  • Staff across the organization are increasingly engaged and inspired, mobilized for strategy, ministry execution, and impact
  • High performance of the team is ensured through the leading of: goal setting, prioritization, process management, relationship management, capacity building/mentoring/coaching and performance management/reviews
  • The public takes action in aligned communications, advocacy and marketing, including ending violence against children and disaster response
  • Communications for behavior change initiatives are strategic and contribute to the development objectives of programs/projects
  • Donor branding and other communications compliance requirements are met by all relevant staff and are reflected in all communications/external materials.
  • Staff speak with one voice publicly as trusted ambassadors for World Vision
  • Our organizational story, in support of the global brand, says who we are, what we do and where we are going
  • Evidence of impact underpin our story, demonstrating that we do what we say we do
  • High-value strategic content is leveraged across audiences and platforms, especially for public and donor engagement
  • Communications operating model, including for disasters, is optimized to deliver on the new global Communications & Public Engagement strategy
  • Compelling content is delivered by efficient workflows, assuring wise stewardship
  • Crisis response expertise is mobilized to counter threats to World Vision’s reputation
  • Insights and measurement drive investment in reputation and trust

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Communications, Development Communication, Media, Journalism, Arts or similar
  • 5-7 years experience leading and managing communications and production teams in international NGOs or Creative Industries
  • Advanced communications technical skills such as photo and video production, editorial, graphic design, and media relations
  • Proven experience of training and capacity building of others
  • Advanced level of computer proficiency, Mac and PC, including editing skills across Adobe and Apple software for video, photo, media, design
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Thorough knowledge of the communication and media industry
  • Thorough knowledge of international development, World Vision development practice and communications needs
