Summary

  • Supervises: Senior Associate Lawyer, Junior Associate Lawyer, Legal Executive (Paralegal)
  • Job Purpose:
    • Lead and manage the Legal Department in providing sound legal advice, oversight, and strategic support to the organization.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, oversee outsourced legal work, and manage internal legal coordination, drafting, and research.
    • Oversee company secretarial and conveyancing functions, ensure proper maintenance of company records, and support the board and management in all governance-related matters.
    • Drive the department’s digitisation and documentation initiatives, ensuring the company’s legal affairs are efficiently managed and aligned with corporate governance standards.

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB); admission to practice law in Papua New Guinea.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of post-admission experience, preferably with exposure to corporate, property, conveyancing, and commercial law.
  • Experience in managing a legal team and liaising with external counsel.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management, compliance, and regulatory filings.
  • Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and advisory skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Sound understanding of PNG legal, regulatory, and property frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital document management systems.
  • High integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strategic thinker with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Collaborative and solutions-oriented approach.
