Position Title: Costings Clerk
Department: National Parts Department
Location: PNG Motors – Head Office / National Parts Warehouse
Reports To: Costing Officer / Costings and Logistics Manager
The Costings Clerk is responsible for preparing, verifying, and maintaining accurate costing records for all automotive parts within the National Parts Department. The role ensures accurate landed cost calculations, assists with the pricing of stock, and provides timely cost information to support procurement, warehouse operations, and management reporting.
Costing & Data Entry
Record and calculate landed costs of imported parts, including freight, customs duties, GST, insurance, and other charges.
Input and update part costs in the ERP/Inventory Management System with accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure supplier invoices, freight bills, and customs clearance documents are matched and verified against shipments.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare costing reports for management, highlighting any variances or unusual costs.
Support the Finance and Procurement teams with cost data for budgeting, forecasting, and stock valuations.
Monitor and reconcile discrepancies between system costs and supplier invoices.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain organized records of all shipping, customs, and cost documentation.
Comply with internal control procedures and assist with external and internal audits where required.
Support to National Parts Department
Provide accurate cost information to the Parts Sales and Inventory Control teams.
Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and suppliers regarding shipment and cost queries.
Assist the Costing Supervisor in implementing process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Certificate/Diploma in Accounting, Business, or related field (Degree preferred).
Prior experience in costing, accounting, or logistics roles (experience in the automotive industry is an advantage but not required).
Knowledge of inventory management systems or ERP software preferred but not required.
Familiarity with customs and import documentation is highly desirable but not required.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Good computer literacy, particularly in MS Excel and accounting systems.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Team-oriented with good communication and interpersonal skills.
Honest and reliable with a high level of integrity.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
