Position Title: Customs Compiler

Department: Import Customs & Delivery

Reporting to: Import Customs Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

The Customs Compiler plays a crucial role in assisting the Customs Broker by helping to prepare and compile all necessary documentation and data required for submitting a Customs entry. Customs Compiler must ensure that the goods are properly classified, duties and taxes are calculated, and any required permits or licenses are in place, allowing the shipment to clear customs smoothly and efficiently.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparing shipping documentation for customs clearance process (Import).
• Compilation and classification of customs entries for various clients and commodities.
• Communication with customer and overseas agents to follow up on required documentation and information.
• Liaison with appropriate government bodies regarding clearance of goods
• Monitor and coordinate Customs Clearance Jobs.
• Verify accuracy of entries prior to lodgment of customs entries.
• Arrange permits and exemptions applications.
• Ensure duty is paid to customs within 5 working days after the assessment notice is issued.
• Communicate with Customer/ Clients on customs related queries.
• Ensure importers meet Customs regulatory requirements.
• Assist Client Service with all related work, when applicable.
• Others, perform other duties as required.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with Tariff Codes & Classification
• Basic Knowledge of International Shipping and Logistics
• Proficient in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with the ASYCUDA (Automated System for Customs Data)
• Knowledge of PNG Customs Regulations
