Islands Petroleum (IP) is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/Oro Bay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby, and Madang.

We are currently seeking for Licensed Electrician to be based at our Rabaul Depot Operations in East New Britian Province.

The Role & Responsibilities

This position is responsible to execute electrical installation & corrective, preventive electrical maintenance on all electrical and electronic equipment and components.

• Inspect & do installation and maintenance of electrical system on site.
• Monitor and troubleshoot equipment and create reports on efficiency.
• Working along with maintenance supervisor, lead and senior engineer to create a long-term plan.
• Ensuring compliance with company regulations
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus on all sites.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to identify root cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance.
• Perform other duties instructed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Compliance to HSEQ Employee Responsibilities herein;
• Quality assurance: Maintains a high level of work quality and complies to Electrical standards.
• Safety: Maintains a high level of safety awareness. PPE/JSA/Permits
• Productivity: Works efficiently & completes task on time without compromising quality.

Candidates Requirements

The person we seek must have the following:

• Trade Certificate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Certified Electrician with High Voltage Certification
• PPL License
• 3-5 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role in an oil & gas or mining industry
• Electronics Trouble shooting Experience.
• Electrical Knowledge – understands electricals system, wiring, circuits and components.
• Drawing (SLD) – Able to read and interpret single line drawings (electrical & instrumentation)
• Equipment proficiency – Skilled in using electrical tools such as multi meters, voltage tester, wire strippers etc…
• Troubleshooting
• Communication and comprehension
• Well-organized and adaptable
