About the Role
TE PNG Ltd is seeking an experienced Electronics Bench Technician who would be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, assembling, and testing electronic components and systems at our workshop in Port Moresby. This role requires a strong understanding of circuit diagrams, schematics, and testing equipment to ensure products meet quality and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment and components.
- Use tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and diagnostic software to analyze issues.
- Read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Assemble parts or products according to specifications and test for proper operation.
- Maintain accurate service records, logs, and repair documentation.
- Perform preventative maintenance on test equipment and tools.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and complies with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering or production teams to improve product design or repair procedures.
- Manage inventory of tools, parts, and materials.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Technical Skills
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electronic equipment, preferably VHF, UHF radios or similar.
- Soldering proficiency, including surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole components
- Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators
- Reading and interpreting complex schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Basic programming or firmware knowledge (e.g., ability to flash firmware, use diagnostic tools)
- Understanding of ESD safety procedures and cleanroom protocols (if applicable)
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to identify root causes of malfunctions or failures
- Experience with failure analysis and reporting
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Interpersonal & Organizational Skills
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly (both verbally and in writing)
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Commitment to quality control and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar technician or repair role.
- Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, components, and diagnostic tools.
- Proficient in soldering and rework techniques (SMT and through-hole).
- Ability to follow technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and time management skills
