Escort Driver – Oversized Load Support

Location: Port Moresby & Surrounding Regions

PNG Industry Manpower Solutions (PIMS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Escort Driver to join our Port Moresby-based team. This role is critical to ensuring the safe and compliant movement of oversized float units across the region. As an Escort Driver, you will:

• Safely guide and support the transport of heavy equipment
• Ensure full compliance with road safety regulations
• Minimize risks to the public and transport crew during operations

Minimum Requirements:

Licensing & Experience:

• Valid Class 3 or higher driver’s license.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in escorting oversized or heavy haulage loads.
• Familiarity with traffic management procedures and escort protocols for wide and heavy loads.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong understanding of escort vehicle positioning, signalling, and communication with float drivers.
• Ability to identify and mitigate hazards along transport routes, including low clearances, tight turns, and traffic congestion.
• Skilled in using two-way radios and mobile communication tools to maintain constant contact with the float driver and logistics team.
• Capable of route reconnaissance and assisting in planning safe and compliant transport paths.

Safety & Conduct:

• Must adhere to strict safety protocols, including use of high-visibility clothing, warning lights, and signage.
• Demonstrated ability to manage public interactions and coordinate with local authorities when required.
• Responsible for monitoring load clearance, road conditions, and ensuring the float unit remains within legal and safe operating parameters.

Additional Requirements:

• Availability for early morning starts, extended hours, and weekend work as needed.
• Must be physically fit and able to assist with basic traffic control duties.
• Willingness to work in challenging environments, including remote or undeveloped areas.
