The Role

As the Financial Reporting Manager, you will be a highly skilled financial reporting professional with deep expertise in banking finance. You will act as a key technical authority in IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss provisioning and advanced financial modelling. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, you will ensure the Group’s financial reporting and analytical frameworks are robust, compliant, and forward-looking, supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the management and calculation of provisioning under IFRS 9, including the point-in-time probability of default recalibration process for expected credit loss.
  • Develop and maintain advanced financial models to support provisioning, forecasting, and strategic reforecasts.
  • Prepare detailed Executive Committee commentary and board papers regarding Group-level financial notes, provisions, and off-balance sheet exposures.
  • Manage technical audit responses and coordination with external auditors regarding complex IFRS 9 disclosures.
  • Ensure strict adherence to BPNG Prudential Standards and international accounting policies across Pacific Markets and Subsidiaries.
  • Manage and mentor the Financial Accounting team, building technical capability and clear succession plans.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Business are essential.
  • Must be a Certified Practising Accountant PNG (CPA PNG) or hold an equivalent international qualification.
  • Strong technical and analytical background derived from an existing Bank or Big Four audit firm.
  • Proven experience applying IFRS 9 provisioning models and performing senior-level financial analysis.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in financial reporting or audit, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to present complex technical financial information to diverse stakeholders.
